Terms of Use

Last updated October 16, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Anton Mitrafanau, IE (“we”), who provides SumSnap. By using the app you accept them. Your licence to the app itself is governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement; these terms add to it for the service the app connects to.

What SumSnap is

SumSnap scans receipts and keeps them on your iPhone. It recognizes their text on the device, and uses AI models provided by OpenAI, through our server, to tidy that text, find the total printed on the receipt, sort purchases into spending categories and answer your questions about your spending.

AI can be wrong

Recognized text, totals, categories and answers are produced automatically and can be wrong or incomplete: a digit misread, a purchase in the wrong category, a total missed. The app keeps the original text and pictures so you can check. Check anything that matters against the receipt itself.

SumSnap is a personal tool for understanding your spending. It is not accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not replace original receipts where the law or anyone else requires them.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use SumSnap with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Using it fairly

Do not use SumSnap to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights;
  • process documents you have no right to process;
  • deceive or defraud anyone, including by altering receipts;
  • get around the free allowance, the subscription check or the service’s limits;
  • reach the service other than through the app, including by scripts or bots, or take the app apart to do so;
  • overload or disrupt the service.

OpenAI’s usage policies also apply to what you send.

Your content and the results

Your receipts and what you write remain yours. You allow us to process them, and to pass them to OpenAI, only to provide the service, as the Privacy Policy describes. The tidied text, totals, categories and answers are yours to use as you wish, and you are responsible for how you use them.

Free use and subscriptions

Without a subscription you can scan, import and tidy up receipts, keep, edit and export them, see spending totals and category amounts for the last 30 days, and get 3 assistant replies a week (the week starts on Monday at 00:00 UTC).

A subscription adds statistics for any period, the actual spending chart and category percentages, and assistant replies beyond the free weekly allowance.

  • It is an auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly, sold by Apple at the price shown in the app before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs until it ends.
  • If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple’s policies.

With or without a subscription, the service has overall limits to stay available for everyone. At busy times a request may be refused; you can try again later. When a subscription ends, your receipts stay where they are.

Changes to the service

We may change, add or remove features and the AI models behind them, and may stop offering the service. We will try to give notice of significant changes.

Privacy

How we handle your data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about the accuracy, reliability or availability of the service or its results, and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from relying on a recognized text, total, category or answer. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

Suspension

We may suspend or end access to the service for anyone who breaks these terms or abuses it.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for addressing claims relating to it. If the app fails to conform to a warranty that applies to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where you live, and do not take away any rights you have under them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version is published here with a new date; using the app after it takes effect means you accept it.
