A good message has three things.
- What happenedWhat you did, what you expected, and what you saw instead.

- A screenshot, if it helpsIf you send a picture of a receipt, cover anything private first.
Quick answers
Before you write.
Scanning
How do I scan a long receipt?
Choose the video scan and move your iPhone slowly from the top of the receipt to the bottom, in one direction, keeping its whole width in view. SumSnap stitches the frames into one receipt. Short receipts are easiest with a photo.
Can I add a receipt from Photos?
Yes. The gallery button takes a photo or a video of a receipt from your library. The app receives only what you pick.
Some of the text came out wrong.
Open the receipt and edit its text; the original recognized text stays available to compare. Good light, a flat receipt and a steady hand help most.
Totals and categories
The total is missing or looks wrong.
SumSnap fills in the total only when the receipt prints it clearly, so a faded or cut-off total is left empty rather than guessed. Open the receipt to enter or correct it; your own entry is kept.
If tidying up the text failed, you can try again from the receipt’s details.
Why did a purchase land in Other?
Categories come from item names and prices. Anything that can’t be matched confidently goes to Other, as does any part of a total that isn’t itemised.
Which date counts in my statistics?
The date shown on the receipt in the app, not the one printed on it. Change it there to move a receipt to another period.
The assistant
What can I ask?
Anything about your saved receipts: what you spent in a month, on a category or at a shop, how two periods compare, where you could spend less. It answers from your receipts, not from the internet.
Is it always right?
No. It works from your receipts’ text, dates and totals, and can still make mistakes. Check important figures against the receipts themselves.
Subscription
What’s free, and what does a subscription add?
Free: scanning, tidying up and exporting receipts, spending totals and category amounts for the last 30 days, and 3 assistant replies a week.
A subscription adds statistics for any period, the actual chart and percentages, and replies beyond the free weekly allowance.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period to stop the next renewal.
New iPhone, or reinstalled the app?
In SumSnap, open Settings, tap Subscription, then Restore.
How do I ask for a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data
Where are my receipts kept?
On your iPhone, in the app. There is no account and no syncing; your iPhone’s backups include them. The Privacy Policy lists everything that leaves your device.
How do I delete everything?
Delete a receipt from its details, or delete the app to remove all receipts and their pictures. Our server keeps no receipts, so there is nothing left to delete there.
